Identity Governance in Practice

Areas where organizations can strengthen identity governance with Fortified ID products and solutions.

Many organizations need to strengthen control over identities, entitlements and access without introducing unnecessary manual processes. Within Identity Governance and IGA, several recurring challenges can be addressed through structured flows, clear decisions and traceable follow-up.

The purpose of this section is not to define or compare a specific IGA model. Instead, the pages describe practical areas where products and solutions such as Fortified ID Access, Fortified ID Control and related products can address governance-related needs.

This can include reducing manual routines, ensuring that access is approved by the right people, limiting access over time, following up ownership and responsibility, or giving auditors and the business better control evidence. The focus is on creating clear processes, strengthening compliance and giving the organization better conditions for managing identities and access in a controlled and traceable way.

Area Challenge
Access governance Ensure that access is requested, approved, reviewed and followed up in a controlled way.
Identity lifecycle governance Keep identities, responsibilities and entitlements up to date as users join, change or leave.
Time-limited business access Reduce lingering access through validity periods, automatic removal and follow-up.
Privileged access governance (PIM & JIT) Reduce risk related to privileged rights through controlled activation, additional verification and traceability.
Resource ownership governance Clarify who is responsible for groups, roles, resources and access decisions over time.
Policy control and segregation of duties Support organizational rules and reduce the risk of inappropriate or conflicting entitlement combinations.
Traceability, audit and compliance Create traceability and decision evidence for internal control, audits and external requirements.

Fortified ID Access is primarily used for access, authentication, federation, policy decisions and controlled login flows. Fortified ID Control is primarily used for Forms, approval flows, automation, scheduled controls, integrations and follow-up.

Together, the products can be used to build solutions where the business gets clearer responsibility for access decisions, while IT can automate repetitive tasks and preserve traceability throughout the flow.

The following pages describe more concrete scenarios within each area:
