Digital Work Identity in IDOmbud gives organizations a strong digital identity for work-related use. It helps organizations move away from a model where sign-in depends only on passwords or private electronic identities, and instead provides an identity designed for work-related needs.

What the service solves

Many electronic identities are primarily designed for private individuals. When they are used in a work context, organizations often face questions about responsibility, administration, lifecycle management, and how to handle users who do not have, or should not use, a private electronic identity for work.

A digital work identity solves this by giving the organization an identity intended for work-related contexts. This makes it possible to use strong authentication for employees, consultants, partners, and other external users without depending on national electronic identities or local custom solutions.

Together, Fortified ID Access and digital work identities in IDOmbud allow organizations to introduce modern work-related identities with full control over identities, permissions, and access.

The solution is built on open standards for Verifiable Credentials and is future-proofed through alignment with the EU EUDI Wallet architecture. It is also designed according to the principle of Privacy by Design, where the user shares only the information required in the current situation.

Digital work identity as a service

For organizations that want to get started quickly, Fortified ID also offers a ready-to-use identity platform as a service through IDOmbud.

IDOmbud includes a cloud-based identity provider (IdP) certified by DIGG for assurance level LOA4. Through the service, organizations can issue, administer, and use digital work identities without operating or maintaining their own identity platform.
