# Overview

Password Reset can delegate password reset to another user. This feature is called **on behalf of**.

It can be used when one user should be allowed to reset passwords for other users, for example a teacher, a manager, or a service desk agent.

Common examples include:

* a teacher resetting passwords for students
* a manager resetting passwords for employees in the same team
* a service desk agent resetting passwords for users in a specific support scope

When **on behalf of** is configured, the authenticated user can either reset their own password or select another user whose password they are allowed to reset.
