# AuthN

Authenticate a user who has forgotten their password.

Password Reset does not include its own authentication mechanism. Instead, it acts as a SAML Service Provider (SP) and relies on AuthN for user authentication.

This means that the Password Reset application uses the same SAML SP component and configuration pattern as other Fortified ID applications that authenticate through AuthN.
