# Windows

During the upgrade, the Management Center service will be stopped automatically. Managed applications will not be affected.

### Prerequisites before you start upgrading:

* The installation media for the latest version of Management Center (ManagementCenter-xxx.exe) is available via your customer or partner login.
* Before proceeding, back up the entire folder structure of the current Management Center installation.

* \<mgmt\_root>\data
* \<mgmt\_root>\config
* \<mgmt\_root>\bin

Run the installation with elevated privileges

Right-click installer and select **Run as administrator.**

1. Welcome Page

   On the *Welcome to the Fortified ID Management Center Setup Wizard* page, ensure Yes, update the existing installation is selected. Click Next to continue.
2. License Agreement

   On the *License Agreement* page, review the terms and ensure the checkbox I accept the agreement is selected. Click Next to proceed.
3. Upgrade Process

   The upgrade will now begin. If the Management Service has not already been stopped manually, the installer will stop it automatically.
4. Select Additional Tasks

   On the *Select Additional Tasks* page, optionally check Start Management Center service if you want the service to start immediately after installation. Click Next.
5. Completing the Setup Wizard\
   **Important note!! If you run Management Center prior to version 1.2.0, Java is updated from v.21 to v.25. Read this document before you start the Management Center service.**

   On the *Completing the Fortified ID Management Center Setup Wizard* page, click Finish to exit the setup.
